Wine, Rain, and Some Other Stuff

Because it’s Sunday, and I suddenly have more brain space available today than I’ve had in a long time, here. I present to you a short list of the awesomeness (and a few other random thoughts) of the past couple of weeks:

  • sweaty, twisty, bendy yoga
  • enjoying some really great Pinot Noir from Vista Hills
  • wrapping up a freelance project that’s taken me way longer than it should’ve because of all the crazy this summer/fall. Finally finishing something feels so good.
  • a new meditation practice (and you guys… why didn’t I start doing this sooner?)
  • new friends and tacos and beer and wine and conversations for hours
  • old friends and wine and cheese and going out on Sunday nights and conversations for hours
  • finishing Homeland Season 2 (OMG)
  • running buddies, which, thank goodness because when it’s cold and there’s a threat of rain here, it’s really hard to get moving and get outside (but it’s always worth it).
  • brain space, as in, I’ve actually had the mental clarity and focus to edit some things I’d written that needed editing, and to start a few new things that have been swirling in my brain.
  • missing faraway friends like crazy
  • praying to all that is holy (and some things that aren’t) that this mess of rain isn’t the way autumn here is actually going to play out. Portland, be better. I know you have it in you.
  • ideas, for this blog and my food blog, which has run dormant for most of the summer and is just itching to come back (got a recipe or restaurant/bar review you’d like to share? Get at me.)
  • buffalo chicken / bleu cheese mac and cheese
  • Orange is the New Black (OMG)
  • thinking about a next race — it will be a 5k or 10k. Now that I crushed the half marathon (ha, sort of), I want to work on getting a little faster.
  • a cozy new couch and cozy new blankets that were just made for cuddling

Up and coming?

  • more yoga
  • more running
  • three-day juice detox (which I’ll be reviewing here or on Nomadic Foodie soon)
  • catching up on things I meant to post about weeks and months ago (like food stuff and wine and fashion)
  • Also, I really, really need a haircut.
  • CHEESE. The Wedge is next weekend, and yeah. I’m going.
  • STITCH FIX. You guys, it just keeps getting better and better. Just try it. Give it one month. It’s SO fun.
